GSO QuickShip Service Guide

General Information

Service Area
Golden State Overnight (GSO) offers Priority Overnight Delivery to every address in California and select regions of Western Nevada and Arizona. Nevada service area includes the metropolitan areas of Reno and Las Vegas. Arizona service area includes the metropolitan areas of Phoenix and Tucson.

Please consult the DELIVERY TIMES under Shipping on the top menu to determine service availability and guaranteed time for specific zip codes.

Days of Service
From Monday through Friday, GSO QuickShip customers can drop shipments in our growing network of drop boxes. Drop boxes are picked up once per day at or after the posted last pick up time, with many drop boxes having pickup times as late as 8:00 p.m. Drop boxes offer the latest pickup time in any area.

You can determine the location of the nearest drop box by selecting LOCATE a DROP BOX under Shipping on the top menu.

Customer Service
GSO Customer Service Center departments are staffed from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Service Holidays
Golden State Overnight does not provide pick up or delivery service on the following holidays:

New Years Day
Memorial Day
Independence Day
Labor Day
Thanksgiving Day
Christmas Day

The pickup and delivery schedules for days surrounding holidays may change depending on the day of the week on which holidays are observed in any year. Packages scheduled for delivery on a holiday will be delivered on the next business day following the holiday according to the service standard chosen.

Service Types
GSO Priority Overnight (PDS):
PDS Service provides morning delivery of your package by 10:30 a.m. the next business day to most areas. PDS is GSO's standard delivery service.

GSO Early Priority Overnight (EPS):
When 10:30 a.m. the next day is not early enough, GSO offers our EPS Service, which guarantees delivery by 8:00 a.m. the next morning to most areas.

GSO Saturday Delivery (SDS):
Shipments picked up on Friday will be delivered on the following Monday unless you select Saturday Delivery Service (SDS).

GSO Early Saturday (ESS):
GSO offers our ESS Service, which guarantees delivery by 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning to most areas.

Service availability and delivery guarantees can be determined by selecting DELIVERY TIMES under Shipping on the top menu; rating for each service type can be found by selecting INSTANT RATE ESTIMATE under Shipping-> Rates & Fees on the top menu.

Shipping

Shipment Preparation
Packaging:
GSO does not require that you use GSO packaging for your shipments. You can use your own envelopes to ship priority letters and your own boxes for our packages. Envelopes and boxes must be completely sealed and packaging must be appropriate relative to the contents of the package to ensure that no damage will occur during ordinary handling. GSO reserves the right to refuse shipment of any package deemed to be unfit for transport.

Labeling:
In order to ensure the proper tracking and security of priority shipments, GSO requires a GSO QuickShip compliant bar-coded tracking label on each shipment.

Drop Box Service
The GSO QuickShip program is for drop box customers. You receive the benefit of the flexibility of dropping shipments at your convenience in our growing network of drop boxes. Each GSO drop box opening is 10” x 17” and will accommodate rolls of plans up to 24” in length.

To locate a GSO drop box near your location, select LOCATE a DROP BOX under Shipping on the top menu.

Prohibited Items
Shipments containing dangerous goods are not eligible for GSO service. These items include, but not limited to:

Cash and cash equivalents
Crystal, glass and porcelain
Firearms and ammunition
Hazardous Materials
Jewelry and precious metals
Live Animals
One-of-a-kind items (Stamps, coins, etc.)
Perishables goods
Pharmaceuticals
Plant and plant Material
Tobacco

Signature Options
Proof of Delivery:
GSO offers a signature required option by selecting 'Required' for signature under Shipment Information while preparing a GSO QuickShip shipment. GSO also provides an option to obtain a signature from an adult over 21 years.

Releasing Packages Without Signatures:
Shipments via GSO QuickShip may be delivered and released without obtaining a signature when the sender has authorized a release during shipment preparation.

Billing

Credit Cards
GSO accepts Discover, VISA, Mastercard and American Express as valid credit cards for payment.

Refund
Shipments may be eligible for a refund for either unused/unprinted labels or service failures.

Senders may simply call our Billing Department at (800) 322-5555 Option 6 to request the following types of refunds:

1. Unused/unprinted Label Refunds - GSO QuickShip labels are eligible for refunds if a label was not used for shipment or the label did not print. You will need to give your Transaction Id from your label record (also included in your email confirmation). This request must be submitted within 30 days from the date that you created/printed your label. (Your printed label can only be used as it has been printed, without any alterations. If you find an error in the label, print a new label with the correct information and request a refund. Any item which has a manually altered label will be returned to you. Please note that your label may be reviewed or edited before printing the label.)

After 30 days from label creation, GSO will automatically provide refunds for any unused labels via the credit card used toward the original transaction. All such refunds will be subjected to a $10 processing fee per label.

2. Service Failure Refunds - The sender must file the claim no later than 2 business days from the date the item was mailed.

Such refund requests will be verified, processed and a credit will show on your credit card account, if approved. Please allow up to 1 or 2 billing cycles for your refund to be posted to your credit card statement.

We will not be liable for any adjustments on your charges unless you have complied with the requirements noted above. The filing of a lawsuit against GSO does not constitute compliance with these notice provisions.

GSO will not accept liability for failing to meet the delivery guarantees due to an incorrect address, the unavailability of recipient or refusal to accept shipment.

GSO service guarantee does not apply to shipment delayed by conditions beyond our control, including but not limited to: acts of God, weather conditions, acts of public enemies or terrorists; war, strikes, and civil commotions.

Additional Charges
Declared Value
Our liability for loss or damage to any package is limit to your actual damages or $100, whichever is less, unless you pay for and declare a higher authorized value. You may pay an additional charge of $.60 for each additional $100 declared value. If you would like to declare a value of your shipment in excess of $100, please enter the amount of value you wish to declare for in your shipment label.

It is your (the shipper’s) responsibility to prove actual damage. Exposure to and risk of any loss in excess of declared value is assumed by you. The maximum declared value for content of any GSO Envelope is $500. Goods with value over $500 should not be ship via GSO QuickShip.

Address Correction
GSO will always notify you if your shipment has been tendered with incorrect or incomplete address information so you can update your records and, when necessary, provide the corrected or additional address information needed to complete the shipment delivery. An Address Correction fee of $10.00 will be applied to each package that is tendered for delivery with incorrect or incomplete address information. An incorrect address is an address that in any way differs from the full and complete address of the recipient. This may include, but is not limited to, any of the following:

1. Incomplete or incorrect street number.
2. Incomplete, incorrect or misspelled street name
3. Incorrect or omitted destination city
4. Businesses or residences that have closed or moved
5. Packages addressed to USPS P. O. Boxes
6. Omission of, incorrect, or incomplete Zip Code*

*GSO uses the Zip Code as the primary information source for sorting shipments, Incorrect Zip Code information may cause your package to be mis-sorted and delay delivery.

Customer Claims
Loss or Damage Claims:
If you wish to make a claim of loss or damage of a package, you must submit a completed claim request form to GSO within 6 months from the shipment pickup date. Claim forms are available through the Customer Service Center. To determine the cost of a lost or damaged item, you will be required to provide original purchase invoices or estimates for repair, and may be asked to provide copies of your original shipping forms. Damaged items must be made available for inspection, including all package contents, original shipping material, packing material, and shipping carton.

GSO will not be liable for your acts or omissions, including but not limited to improper packaging, securing, marking or addressing, or for the acts or omissions of the recipient or anyone else with interest in the package. Also, we won’t be liable if you or the recipient violates any terms of our agreement.

Rates

Fuel Surcharge
GSO reserves the right in institute a fuel surcharge on some or all shipments without prior notice. This surcharge is subject to adjustment monthly. This surcharge may apply to any transportation or other charges, including, but not limited to, any accessorial charge or surcharge. The current fuel surcharge rate can be determined by selecting FUEL SURCHARGE under Shipping -> Rates & Fees on the top menu. This surcharge will be applied to such services and for such periods as GSO, in its sole discretion, may determine necessary.

Shipment Weight
The rate charged for delivering your shipment is based on three conditions:
- The origin and destination ZIP codes
- The delivery service selected, and other service options
- The weight of your shipment

The weight of your shipment is determined by GSO at the time it is accepted at one of our sort facilities. The total shipment weight includes all packaging and labels along with the contents of the shipment.

As is industry standard, shipment weight is rounded to the next pound rate level. For example, if a shipment weighed 1 pound, 1 ounce it would be billed at the 2 pound rate.

Our lowest weight level is 8 ounces. Any shipment that exceeds 8 ounces is billed at the 1 pound rate.
